Spec redesign — Real business — not a client engagement
Talbot Painting
A painting contractor with genuinely good reviews on Google, HomeAdvisor and Yelp, and a site working against them at the technical level. We rebuilt it around the work and the reputation, and fixed the things that were costing them calls.
This is a spec redesign. We built it unprompted to show what we would do for this business, and it is not a client engagement — nobody paid for it and nobody at the company commissioned it. It is published here as a demonstration of our work, not as a claim of a relationship.

The problem
The live site set a tag that disables tap-to-call across every page, emitted conflicting instructions to search engines about whether to index itself, and carried a phone number and email address in its sharing metadata belonging to somebody else entirely, in another state.
What we did
- 01
Make the phone number work again
On a trade where most enquiries arrive from a phone, a tag that stops the number being tappable is a direct cost. The rebuild makes calling the most obvious action on every screen.
- 02
Show the reviews that already exist
Ratings from three platforms, attributed to each one rather than merged into a single flattering number. Every quote used was already published under the company’s own name.
- 03
Before and after, where it is genuine
Three before/after pairs from their own gallery. Two had been published as single stacked images and were split back into halves; none were reconstructed or staged.
Three real breakpoints
The same page captured at 1600, 834 and 390 pixels. The mobile layout is not the desktop one scaled down — different type scale, different crop, different order.

Measurement
Baseline phase — measurement is underway. Results get published here once there is enough real data behind them to make the comparison mean something, with the date range and the method attached so you can check the arithmetic yourself.
Free custom website demo
You have already seen
what we can build.
Now see what we would build for you.
We build a custom demo of your new website — using your real business, services and reputation — and you decide whether you want it finished.
- A custom homepage concept built around your actual business
- Your services, your area, your reputation — not placeholder text
- Designed mobile-first, so you see it the way your customers will
- A walkthrough of what we changed and why
- No payment to see it, and no obligation afterwards
If the work does not make the case, do not hire us.
No payment is required to request a demo, and there is no obligation to buy. We build demos for a limited number of businesses at a time, so every request is reviewed before we start — if we are not the right fit, we will say so rather than waste your time.
